WELCOME...

This site is devoted to some of the activities, travels and adventures of Barb and Gene both by automobile and in our Motor Home. We plan to keep it up to date as much as posible and hope you find it interesting. the first big trip started in 2000 when we sere discussing the subject of spending a winter in Texas as some of our friends were doing. Gene had been to South Texas in the winter time before and enjoyed the weather much more than shoveling snow and blowing winds during the winters in the North.

THE JOURNEY BEGINS...

This journey begins after several conversations with a friend over coffee in a restaurant. I knew that my friend had been spending winters in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas and I had previously told him that we would also like to spend a winter in South Texas and that for the past couple of years we had been looking for a mobile home or camper or a house to rent in the Rio Grande Valley so we could spend a winter there.

Today he told me that he had seen an ad in the newspaper that someone had a condo for rent on South Padre Island, Texas. We looked in the paper and found the ad. After I arrived back at home I called the number in the ad and found out that the condo was still available. Barb and I discussed it and called the owner back and told them we would take it for 3 months - January, February and March of 2001. We then sent a check for the first months rent as a deposit for the Condo.
